TESTIMONIALS

Rhode Islanders Love Snow

"We had a wonderful time at your mountain home. The "kids" had a great time at Mt. Ascutney -- the perfectdistance for weary athletes as theyjourneyed off themountain. The weekend was picture-perfect with lightly fallen snow. A nice change from the rain at home. You had wonderful links on your website to allow us to make the most of our visit in the area. And you are correct in saying that the hand-cut smoked bacon was not to be missed. Our stay was warm, comfortable, and a memorable experience with our family. Best wishes,"

Outer Cape Visitors

"Thank goodness for the internet or we may never have discovered this adorable farmhouse! The whole family felt right at home the minute we stepped into the kitchen! Clean, cozy (yet spacious) warm and comfortable (especially the beds!) Thank you for sharing your home with us --we had a fantastic week!! We hope to return again and again! Many thanks,"

-- The S's, Truro, MA, Feb 2010

Happy New Years

"Like many who have commented on the same fact, your home is like something from a "Visit Vermont Guide Book. No better setting for our family (celebrated a 3rd birthday in Reading) to appreciate Vermont living and skiing! We spent 3 days at Ascutney with beautiful conditions - kids woke each morning to the 7AM snow plows...more FRESH POWDER! Lots of good food and red wine with husband - kids were wiped out at days end from fresh air and outdoor fun. Thanks you for the wonderful accomodations! The kitchen is a perfect farmhouse setting... We also enjoyed the perfect pond in the backyard for skating (and your neighbor's hill across the street for EXCELLENT sledding!! Thoroughly enjoyed  our stay"

Great Family Getaway

"What a quaint Vermont spot! We loved it. This is what a vacation should be. It's clear the owners have taken great care to renovate their sweet farmhouse. Contained all the amenities needed for a relaxing, care-free stay. Our goal was to teach the kids how to ski - we had 3 excellent days at Ascutney. Loved the children's clinics - even though it was Christmas vacation week, there were no crowds, they received loads of attention, and had a ball on the slopes. An easy 15 minute ride door to door. We also conquered the sledding hill just across the street (hope the neighbors did not mind!) and thoroughly enjoyed the skating pond directly in our backyard. Left Reading feeling as though our family had stepped out of a Norman Rockwell review! The owner's assessment was very clear. This IS a farmhouse. Not a lot of glitz and glamour - downtown Reading can be missed in the blink of an eye. Just grab your slippers for the cool mornings on the hardwoods and prepare to simply relax and enjoy family dinners and game nights in the HUGE kitchen following the day's adventures!"

Owner's Response: We've received many letters just like this, and I always feel the excitement of investigating this small village's many secret finds and hidden gems. Of course the surrounding area, as well, is filled with great destinations and day trips that make this spot a great base-of-operations. And yes, there is a Norman Rockwell Museum nearby, also!

Vermont Life

"What a wonderful piece of Vermont life. We had a great time here. The beds were comfie and warm, the nights quiet and the kitchen, a social center. Thank you so much for the bacon recommendation. YUM. This was also a great home for touring central-eastern Vermont. Close to so much, but nice and quiet. I hope we are able to come back a few times a year."

California loves Vermont

"I think my husband is tired of hearing me sigh and say how lovely this place is!!:) We've had such a great time here - so different from the falls in California - just can't beleive fall in Vermont really is as beautiful as all the pictures we saw on the internet. Thanks so much for letting us experience this season in your cozy farmhouse. The 3 boys have had a ball & we had to write a peacetreaty to help decide who got to sleep in the cool bed with the stairs each night - they'll never forget it and neither will we!!"

-- The M family, CA, Oct 2009

WOW!

"WOW!  I can't say how many times I have said that word as we have toured  your beautiful town. and surrounding area. Your home is adorable and just feels like home. A Wonderful Weekend Getaway

"While visiting some friends in Boston for two weeks we rented this farm house for a few days as a Vermont getaway. It was our groups first visit to Vermont and I would highly recommend it for European visitors.

We enjoyed our stay at the house, which was accurately described. The property was charming, very clean and well maintained and within a few miles of beautiful Woodstock and many other attractions. Our only regret was that we did not visit a little later in the year as we all love to ski.

The owner was helpful and friendly and the rental was very reasonable. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to experience a taste of the Vermont lifestyle."

-- Eoin F, Waterford, Ireland, Jan 2009

Alpacas & Eating

"What a great place to stay - so comfy & homey. We had a wonderful time, spending snowy days in the village. Loved seeing the alpacas and eating at the Irish pub with the kids. Thanks for sharing your home."

-- Don & Sue S. & kids,  Massachusetts, Jan 2008.

Site-seeing

"We had an absolutely wonderful time.  The house was so cute and cozy.  It was convenient to so many things which we missed the last time we came and stayed at the Ascutney Mountain resort.  We got alot of snow while we were there which made for great ski conditions.  We also got in some sight seeing.  Woodstock is a great little town... We look forward to making another trip to Vermont in the near future."

--Tara Z. & family,  New Jersey, Jan 2008.

Great Birthday Weekend

"We had a wonderful time this weekend. It felt like a home away from home. The location was great for us as we skied and snow boarded at Ascutney. The general store was great. If you haven't tried the sirloin steak you must. MMMMM... Connor had a great 12th birthday and we had a great weekend. Thanks again."

-- The B. Family, Connecticut, Jan 2008.

Great family vacation spot

"The place was quaint and cozy, minutes from a number of destinations. We have stayed here several times, in all seasons and have had a wonderful stay each time. It is only 15 minutes from beautiful Woodstock and 10 minutes to Mt. Ascutney (a very reasonably priced place to ski)."

-- Greg C, Holliston, MA, Oct 2008

Home away from home

"This home being just on the outskirts of charming Woodstock makes for an amazing getaway. The home is quiet and appealing with that small town feel and plenty of room for any number of guests. I found it convenient to have a locally owned market in walking distance for those last minute provisions. Any ride from this home was picturesque and memorable being that it's situated in the mountains. I would recommend making this trip in the autumn to do a little leaf peeping. It’s also just minutes away from some great skiing. A stay also wouldn’t be complete without exploring Woodstock’s many shops along their delightful main street or peering down Quechee gorge. Not to mention a trip to Sugarbush Farm for some locally crafted cheese or some fudge from Fool on the Hill. It’s a relaxing place to kick back and snuggle on a cool night with the warmth of the wood stove with some good friends. I recommend it for those that like the feeling of home in lieu of a dull hotel room."

Can't Wait to Return

Everything a VT rental should be. A lovely, old farm house, very clean and nicely decorated.

Owners couldn't have been nicer."

Great Time In Vermont

"We spent three days here and had a wonderful time. The area is just beautiful and because it's in a village, it feels like home. You've got to go to the general store, just steps away and try their bacon....yummy! The house is quaint, very comfortable and clean. We have actually stayed there a couple of times...not far from Woodstock, Stowe and the Burlington area. What luck, there is a neighbor that makes his own maple syrup too. What a treat to buy it and at a good price. We would absolutely recommend to anyone planning a vacation in Vermont"

-- Persie, Plymouth, MA, Aug 2008

We had a great trip to Vermont!

"We had a fun time staying at this rental house, it was the perfect size for our group of 3 couples. While there we visited two breweries and had a great time driving through Woodstock and stopping at all the local farmers markets and small shops. The small store right across the street was great to grab a quick breakfast, the apple cider there was delicious. It was a relaxing weekend and the leaves were gorgeous!"

"Vermont is a state I love.  I could not look upon the peaks of Ascutney, Killington, Mansfield, and Equinox, without being moved in a way that no other scene could move me.  It was here that I first saw the light of day; here I received my bride, here my dead lie pillowed on the loving breast of our eternal hills..."  President Calvin Coolidge, 1928.
