"We had a wonderful time this weekend. It felt like a home away from home. The location was great for us as we skied and snow boarded at Ascutney. The general store was great. If you haven't tried the sirloin steak you must. MMMMM... Connor had a great 12th birthday and we had a great weekend. Thanks again." -- The B. Family, Connecticut, Jan 2008.

"We had an absolutely wonderful time. The house was so cute and cozy. It was convenient to so many things which we missed the last time we came and stayed at the Ascutney Mountain resort. We got alot of snow while we were there which made for great ski conditions. We also got in some sight seeing. Woodstock is a great little town... We look forward to making another trip to Vermont in the near future." --Tara Z. & family, New Jersey, Jan 2008.
SOME OTHER LOCAL THINGS... Local sites include the 80 foot Cascade Falls, the Ascutney State Park Trails, VAST snowmobile network, a gorgeous Alpaca Farm in Brownsville, golfing at Crown Point Country Club, horseback riding at the Green Mountain Horse Association in South Woodstock, trout fishing in the Black River (the north branch of which can be heard babbling behind our house), horse-drawn sleigh rides, hot-air ballooning in Quechee, great restaurants everywhere, Harpoon & Longtrail Brewery tours, and of course, SKIING!
Skiing Information: The largest single-peak mountain east of the Mississippi is Mt. Ascutney which offers fabulous skiing & a new high-speed detachable quad. ASCUTNEY is five minutes over to the next village, but if you want some real challenging and greatly diverse skiing, you'll have to check out OKEMO (15 minutes) and KILLINGTON (20 minutes away). For something smaller, SUICIDE SIX is a nice family resort (20 minutes)

"What a great place to stay - so comfy & homey. We had a wonderful time, spending snowy days in the village. Loved seeing the alpacas and eating at the Irish pub with the kids. Thanks for sharing your home." -- Don & Sue S. & kids, Massachusetts, Jan 2008.
SKIERNEWS.COM says: "With its new, mile-long high-speed detachable North Peak Express quad to a new summit area, 95 percent snowmaking coverage and 56 trails, ASCUTNEY is truly Vermont’s 'Mountain on the Rise.'"
"Vermont is a state I love. I could not look upon the peaks of Ascutney, Killington, Mansfield, and Equinox, without being moved in a way that no other scene could move me. It was here that I first saw the light of day; here I received my bride, here my dead lie pillowed on the loving breast of our eternal hills..." President Calvin Coolidge, 1928.
