...NATURAL FARMING, BETTER LIVING... |

A
BOUT US
The Dahlia Farm is a 6-acre sustainable farm in Middleboro, specializing in chemical-free produce, cut flowers, herbs and free-range eggs. We market primarily through a CSA program, farmers markets, restaurants and cut flower venues. Although the CSA program began only recently, the cut flower and produce farm has actually operated since the late 19th century, and was at one time the largest dahlia farm in New England, operating internationally through a catalog business.
Recently
additions to our equipment include a "new" Ford Jubilee tractor (as
well as John Deere plow and
trailer). This fully-restored 1953 antique will be the workhorse of our plowing
operation (watch for a future video of our farm in operation)
We are newly members of CERTIFIED NATURALLY GROWN. (Similar to USDA organic
certification but CNG is an industry certifier of chemical-free farming
rather than a governmental one). A grassroots
organization, inspections of sustainable farming operations are done by
competing farms throughout the United States.
Presently we are also on the USDA list for the 'Obama Garden' high-tunnel
pilot program. This is a Federal 3-year study program looking at the
feasibility of extended-season produce growing, using hoop houses (or
'poly-tunnels'). The NRCS (Natural
Resources Conservation Service) is the local Ag Dept subsidiary handling
the project. If approved, we’d be eligible for a grant to build a portable
2000 square foot greenhouse.
If you are interested in subscribing to our CSA program this year, our online
sign-up sheet can be found on our web (TheDahliaFarm.com).
You
can print the form and mail it in, or if you'd prefer give us a ring (days 508-947-0174,

Be sure to visit our website regularly for updates and new videos as the season
progresses.
